We have lost another dedicated MWTHA member. This past July Gordon "Gordy" Katz of rural Barryton died. He was diagnosed in June with cancer and a month later he died. He has been a long time dedicated member.

Gordy believed very deeply in our winter survival program throughout the 13 county Area K and reached into his pocket for extra cash to help fund it.

During the past several years Gordy and his wife Sandy were in Florida during the Rendezvous. Just before the Rendezvous, a check would arrive in the mail from Gordy to be invested in the various raffles that we hold. When Gordy arrived home he would call and ask how our event went. Each time I would give him the news that his number wasn't called. This past spring through Gordy hit the jackpot by winning the Hunter's Package and one of the Bucket raffles.

During the last days of the third season Gordy called to tell me of how he used all of the equipment that he had won. He was also lamenting the fact that he was having difficulty finding gobblers. Just before the end of the season he called again with the news that he has called up a big gobbler and put his tag on it.

Bon Voyage Gordy! You truly will be missed. If there are Wild Turkeys in heaven Gordy will be spending the whole day trying to call one up.
