Ausable River Valley Chapter
On June 19, 2004 we held our annual “Raffle Picnic” at the Clinton Township Hall in Comins. First Prize of a $1000.00 gift certificate to Jays Sporting Goods went to Patrick Shannon of Omer, MI. Pat was really excited as he is planning an elk-hunting trip to Montana in the near future and was able to purchase many necessary things for his trip. The five $100.00 gift certificate winners were: Regina Demetrakeas of Lupton, Craig Woods of Roscommon, Gordon Beard of Grayling, Sue Demsky of Warren and Deanna Henderson of Standish. Everyone was very excited to win and I am sure had a great time at Jay’s.
On July 18, 19, 25 and 26 we held our hunter education classes. We had 37 successful participants. In our classes we cover game care, archery and equipment, crossbow, survival, a .22 rifle shoot, archery shooting, survival fire, field test, compass course, firearm ID chokes ammunition and safe handling, safe carry including transportation, shoot don’t shoot and zone of fire, muzzle loading, tree stand safety, personal preparedness, and .20 gauge target shooting. We are very proud of our hunter education classes and have received many good responses from parents and the community.
We are planning our raffle for next year and look forward to feeding the turkeys this winter.
