Kenowa Beards and Spurs The Kenowa Beards and Spurs chapter is another new chapter of MWTHA. President of the chapter is Rick Hamilton, who can be reached at (616)247-1633. Greetings M.W.T.H.A. Members:
On September 16, 2005 the Kenowa Beards and
Spurs held it's third annual banquet. It didn't pan out as well as
we had hoped, but all in all it was a mild success and it seemed a
good time was had by all. The people that went home with one of
the many guns, tree stands, or ground blinds, among the numerous
other prizes were extremely happy. We are looking forward to next
years banquet in 2006 and we are hoping to see more familiar
faces, so watch your mail for more info. The Kenowa chapter is
hoping to do a raffle after the first of the year to raise funds
for a bigger and better banquet next year.
In my opinion, we need to keep fighting those
that want to expand the ZZ hunt from getting their way. I believe
if the ZZ hunt were to happen the future of turkey hunting would
be like deer hunting. Last November while hunting the Pine River
area, south of Cadillac, I saw only six deer in six days of
hunting. from what I have read the harvest of deer in zone two was
down 8% from 2004 and 2004 was a terrible year, so what kind of
year does that make 2005, and what will 2006 be like? So as I see
it we had better stay on top of the turkey regulations.
