Hello to all, I hope the year is, and will be, kind to everyone.
Well, the year is off to a very snowy start…November 3, and we had about 4-5 inches on the ground and more just a coming down; currently all that snow is gone, but then it got just plain cold. Don’t know about you, but our trees are slowly coming back from the Gypsy Moth infestation. At least they had leaves this year. But, alas, no acorns…hopefully next year.
There is going to be a general membership meeting at the Jay’s Sporting Goods Outback Room on May 7, 2023, at 12:00 PM.
The agenda will be, but not limited to:
• State Chapter Elections
• Turkey Feeder Rules of Use
• Reissue 2003 patch? Need Feedback!
The North-Central Chapter will be having its 25th annual banquet on March 4, 2023. See the banquet flier enclosed!
The Grant Gobblers Chapter will be having its annual banquet on March 24, 2023. For info contact: Brian Heminger – (616)-291-1626
The North-Central Chapter has purchased 31 steel barrels, which have been converted into turkey feeders. These are now available for this year’s winter feeding program. If you are using one of these feeders, you should check with your local DNR C.O. if they object to them or have a desired way of use. These feeders are designed specifically for turkey feeding only and must not be altered or used for any other purpose. Yes, there have been a few situations of altered use, so please check with your local DNR C.O.
Last winter there was approximately 14 tons of corn distributed for feeders in Clare, Gladwin, Isabella and Midland Counties…So, I hope the turkeys were indeed happy…oh, yes, and delicious!
Hope to see everyone at the banquets and the meeting, be safe!
