Hello to all and Happy New Year! Once again, my name is Gary Maas, and I am the current president of the MWTHA State Chapter. I will try to send out a newsletter of sorts from time to time when I think some issues need to be addressed, updated, or when the membership would like clarification on something.
In case you haven’t already heard, Jim Maturen has been in the hospital for what looks like COVID-19 symptoms and complications. Jim is the founder of MWTHA and worked tirelessly to ensure that the wild turkey population in Michigan stayed healthy.
I hope we will keep Jim in our prayers.
If you are wondering why you are receiving a MWTHA membership card, decal and the 2020 patch it is because a membership to MWTHA was part of your ticket price when you came to the North-Central Chapter’s Banquet in March.
I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer and have gotten their food plots ready for this fall. I’m not going to go into any diatribe on the baiting ban other than it doesn’t make any sense to me.
Hope all are surviving the cold and ice; it’s been brutal hasn’t it? At night I can see a flock of turkeys roosting in the trees behind the house and I can only wonder how in the heck they don’t freeze up and fall off their limb.
