I hope everyone got out there and had a successful turkey hunt this Spring.  We don’t get a Fall hunt in Clare County, so that was a no-go. If where you are has a Fall hunt, I hope it was successful as well.  As always, send me a picture of you and your bird with beard length, spur length, weight, if you have it, and the county harvested in, and I’ll put it on our Facebook page.

There will be a general membership meeting at Jay’s Sporting Goods, Outback Room, on January 14,2025 at 12:00 PM.

The agenda will be, but not limited to:

  1. State Chapter Elections:
  2. The North-Central Chapter will be having its 27th annual banquet on March 1, 2025, at the Church of the Nazarene in Clare.  See the banquet flier enclosed!
  3. The Grant Gobblers Chapter will hold its annual banquet on March 21, 2024, at Grant Community Church, 115 W. State Rd., Grant, MI.  For info contact: Brian Heminger – (616)-291-1626

The North-Central Chapter has about 14 steel drum turkey feeders that are available for this year’s winter feeding program.  If you are using one of these feeders, you should check with your local DNR C.O. if they object to them or have a desired way of use. These feeders are designed specifically for turkey feeding only and must not be altered or used for any other purpose. Yes, there have been a few situations of altered use, so please check with your local DNR C.O.

Last winter there was approximately 18 tons of corn distributed to members with feeders in Clare, Gladwin, Isabella and Midland Counties…So, I hope the turkeys were indeed happy…oh, yes, and delicious!

Hope to see everyone at the banquets and the meeting, be safe!
