I hope all are doing well these days, and this finds you all as healthy and happy as can be.  Did everyone harvest a spring turkey?  I hope so, at least get in the woods, or take someone hunting who hasn’t before, it’s extremely rewarding, especially for kids.

I’m sure you have already heard or read about the new fall turkey season here in Michigan. There are some fairly dramatic changes that I will not outline here, so please pick up a copy of the Fall Turkey Hunting Guide and inform yourself of all the changes if you haven’t already.

As always, the MWTHA Grant and North-Central Chapters are having their annual banquets in 2026; the Grant Chapter will be having its banquet on March 20, 2026; the contact is Brian Heminger at 616-291-1626, and the North-Central Chapter will be having their banquet on March 7, 2026; the contact is me, Gary Maas at 989-588-1193.

The 2026 patch celebrates the thirty (30) years since the inception of MWTHA by Mr. Jim Maturen, who unfortunately passed away this year.  Jim was a tireless advocate for the outdoors, turkey hunting, and turkey hunting training/calling, as well as most aspects of conservation.  The 2026 patch is for you, Jim!

Lastly, please find the membership renewal form enclosed! The membership dues are a vital source of income for the “State Chapter,” which is in charge of dealing with raffle licensing, membership accounting and mailing, the annual patch design, ordering and distribution, and being in charge of the organization’s 501(c)3 standing with the Federal Government.  Mr. Maturen basically set all of this up in 1996 with the original inception of the MWTHA, and we continue to appreciate the fruit of his labor and dedication and are most thankful for it.
