Then picking up my decoy and hiding it in the bushes. Around 10:15 I hear turkey talk. Looking to my left I see 2 jakes working along at about 50 yds while watching them feeding around me. After 15 minutes I think what the heck if one gets in the clear I’ll take a jake as there isn’t a long beard around. These two jakes are side by side always too close to shoot. Exciting yes, but very nerve wracking. Finally at 11:10 they are about 8 feet apart “Bang” bird down. Then the other jake gobbles and starts attacking my dead bird. When he finally walks away, I go and get my bird at 17 paces. After 45 minutes of patience and frustration a successful year.
