Jim Maturen receives Conservationist of the Year award

This year, a long time Osceola County resident, retired Michigan State Police trooper, former Osceola County Commissioner, and MWTHA Founder and Pere Marquette Chapter President has been presented with the Osceola-Lake and Mecosta Conservation District’s Conservationist of the Year Award. The award is presented to recognize individuals, conservation organizations, and others for outstanding accomplishments with protecting and conserving our natural resources.

TB Chapter Winter Survival Feeding Program Underway

The Traverse Bay Chapter of the Michigan Wild Turkey Hunters Association winter survival wild turkey feeding program will begin distribution of shelled corn on December 19, 2009 from 9 a.m. until noon at Gruler’s Feed Supply on US 31 south of Charlevoix and at Ellsworth Farmer’s Exchange in Gaylord.

Distribution will take place every other Saturday at the same time at these locations after December 19 until spring snow melt or an exhaustion of chapter feeding funds, whichever occurs first.
